“As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God.”
Psalm 42:1 (NKJV)

I remember the days when my children were young: I would come home from work, and they were eagerly watching out the window for me. The first words I would hear when I came into the house were, “Daddy, Daddy, Daddy.” Then they would run to climb into my lap, perfectly content because they were in their daddy’s lap. We need to be perfectly content sitting in our heavenly Father’s lap, focusing on Him. Our heavenly Father’s lap is very special. First, there in His lap you will find rest. John 14:27a (NASB) says, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you.” Secondly, in our Father’s lap there is security and protection. “A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. Psalm 91:7 (ESV).” Thirdly, in our Father’s lap there is healing. “He heals all your diseases. Psalm 103:3 (NASB).” Fourthly, in our Father’s lap there is forgiveness. “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our wrongdoings, according to the riches of His grace. Ephesians 1:7 (NASB).” Lastly in our Father’s lap there is love. “I have loved you with an everlasting love. Jeremiah 31:3b (NASB).” There are no strings attached, no conditions to this love. Our Father just loves us, and there is nothing that we can do that will make our Heavenly Father love us any less or any more. He just loves us and keeps on loving us. My challenge to each one of us for 2022 is that we would seek God with our whole heart, focus on Him daily, and follow His steps and be reminded that His love for us never runs out.
