“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)

This verse is a profound reminder of who Jesus is and what His reign means for our daily lives. First of all, He is Wonderful Counselor. This means you can turn to Jesus for clarity in decision-making, comfort in your confusion, and direction when you feel lost. Practically, it encourages you to pray and seek His Word when you’re navigating difficult challenges.

Secondly, Jesus is Mighty God. No matter how overwhelming your circumstances may seem, you serve a Savior who is mighty enough to overcome any obstacle. Luke 1:37 says, “For with God nothing will be impossible.” This inspires you to trust His strength, especially in those moments when you’re feeling so inadequate.

Thirdly, He is Everlasting Father. Jesus personally cares about you offering a relationship that lasts forever. Isaiah 49:16 (NKJV) says, “See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me.” For you, this means experiencing His unconditional love and protection. In practice, it calls for you to share that same love with others, reflecting His character in your relationships.

And lastly, He is the Prince of Peace. Christ brings peace to our hearts, even amidst turmoil. As Jesus said in John 14:27 (NLT), “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” This means you need to surrender all your worries to Him every day, allowing His peace to guard your heart and mind. It also challenges you to be a peacemaker in your interactions with others, living as a representative of His kingdom.

“And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
