“Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken.”
Psalm 62:5-6 (HCSB)

It’s summer and with that comes warmer weather, barbecues, sports with the kids or grandkids, and a much-needed vacation which we sometimes refer to as rest and relaxation. Yet you have probably noticed when you do go on vacation and get back home, you still feel like you need another vacation. You can be on an extended vacation and still be stressed out. Because you’ve not had that R&R the way the Easy-to-Read Bible Version (ERV) reads in Psalms 62:5-8: “I must calm down and turn to God; He is my only hope. He is my Rock, the only one who can save me. He is my high place of safety, where no army can defeat me. My victory and honor come from God. He is the mighty Rock, where I am safe. People, always put your trust in God! Tell Him all your problems. God is our place of safety.”

Let’s pray: Lord, I say today, to my soul, all that I am will wait silently, will wait quietly, and will wait only upon you, Lord. Because, Lord, in the end, my hope and my expectation are in You alone. You alone, Lord, are my rock. You alone are my salvation. Lord, you alone are my defense, my strong fortress, my strong tower where I will not be shaken, Lord. I will not be moved in you. In Jesus Name, amen.
