“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”
Matthew 6:22-23 (NKJV)

I like what the Wuest Commentary says in verse 22: “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye be in single focus, pure, sound, your whole body will be well lighted.” However, when your eyes become clouded with the things of this world, your whole life is affected. What you see is what affects your soul, which is your mind, your will, and your emotions. So, pay careful attention to what you focus your eyes upon.

Ponder this question. Do you have control of your eyes or do your eyes have control of you?

Declaration:
I will verbally make a commitment to the Holy Spirit by asking Him to control my eyes. Then I will take the initiative to turn away from the things that tempt me. I declare I will fix my thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. I will think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. (Philippians 4:8 NLT)
