“These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33 (NASB)

We have all had the kind of day when nothing seems to go right. It might be a situation that you’re dealing with at work. A cantankerous client that is giving you fits. Joel Osteen says, “Don’t let other people dump their garbage on you. Keep your metal lid on tight. Don’t let anybody steal your joy.” Jesus never leaves you. He is right there with you, encouraging you because “I have overcome the world.” You too are an overcomer. You can choose to let this kind of day really mess with your mind and emotions and you can wallow in a pit of self-pity, or you can choose to be of good cheer and realize that as long as you live on this planet, there are going to be dog days. I particularly like the way John 16:33 in the Message Bible reads, “The Father is with me. I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.” And Jesus further encourages you in John 14:27 (NASB), “Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful.”

Declaration:
I declare that through Jesus I am an overcomer. I will not allow people or circumstances around me to rob me of my peace and joy but rather, I will place my trust in Jesus and be joyful.
