“Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.”
Proverbs 22:29 (NKJV)
I love what John Maxwell says about excellence: “Excellence is the gap between average and exceptional. It’s the ability to exceed expectations and consistently deliver superior quality. In developing habits of excellence, leaders gain influence and stand out from the crowd. By cultivating a culture of excellence, a business attracts customers and wins their loyalty.” It was Colin Powell who said, “If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude.” This is really about perspective. We often focus totally on the big picture and forget all the little things, the details it takes to achieve the big picture. Begin to focus your attention on excelling in the details and you will succeed in the big things. Joyce Meyers says, “Getting organized in the normal routines of life and finishing little projects you started is an important first step toward realizing larger goals. If you can’t get a handle on the small things, how will you ever get it together to focus on the big things?” And Booker T. Washington said, “Success in life is founded upon attention to the small things rather than to the large things; to the every day things nearest to us rather than to the things that are remote and uncommon.”
DECLARATION:
I declare that starting today, I will take one day at a time and focus my attention on the little things, the details.”
