“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33 NKJV
Perhaps we have all had that kind of day where nothing seems to go right, but Jesus never leaves us. He is right there with us, encouraging us because “He has overcome the world.” You, too, are an overcomer. You can choose to let this kind of day really mess with your mind and emotions and wallow in a pit of self-pity or you can choose to be of good cheer and realize that as long as you live on this planet, there are going to be messed up days. But you are going to be of good cheer because your peace and contentment is your happiness in Jesus. I particularly like the way the Message Bible reads, in verse 33, “The father is with me. I’ve told you all this so that trusting Me, You will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart, take courage! I’ve conquered the world.” And Jesus further encourages you in John 14:27 NASB, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.” I want to encourage you to speak the following declaration over whatever circumstances you may be struggling with at this time: ”I declare that through Jesus Christ I am an overcomer. I will not allow the circumstances around me to rob me of my peace and joy but rather, I will place my trust in Jesus and be assured. Since God is for me, who can be against me?”
