“On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, ‘Let us cross over to the other side.’ Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, ‘Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?’ Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace, be still!’ And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.”
Mark 4:35-39 NKJV

How are you doing? How well are you handling the storms in your life? As we look to the scriptures, when in the storm, the disciples thought surely, they were going to drown, but they forgot that Jesus was in the boat. He had said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” In other words, He was telling them that they were going to make it to the other side regardless of their circumstances. We need to hear this, don’t we? What are those “other sides” in your life – those goals and aspirations that you have and that purpose that God has clearly given to you. You are going to make it. This story further tells us that Jesus had been resting, so they woke Him, and He rebuked the wind and the rough sea, and it became calm. As long as the disciples assumed control of the situation, Jesus rested. But when they cast their cares on Him and turned over the controls to Him, He took care of everything and they could rest. As business and professional leaders, you need to be reminded that you must take responsibility, but you must never take control. This control thing belongs to God. You care and Jesus rests. Jesus cares and you rest.
