We are so very grateful for your donations to our 2019 “Invest In a Kid” Backpack Drive – such a huge success! Your donations allowed us to provide 5800 kids with new backpacks filled with back-to-school supplies in 76 middle and elementary schools and agencies in 4 counties – Snohomish, King, Pearce, and Thurston. Forty-five (45) businesses got involved in promoting the drive to their employees, vendors, and friends. One local Kirkland business matched their employees’ donations and provided backpack kits to over 1,490 kids!
“I know we thanked you in the Fall for your very generous donation of the backpacks filled with supplies for a number of our students, but I wanted to follow up to let you know the positive impact it had on some of our Bobcats that needed it the most. We handed them out to kids we knew from the beginning would need them, but then also solicited names from staff of kids who would have otherwise flown under the radar. We replaced one backpack for a student who had theirs stolen at a park and have our last one saved for a student whose house burned down. We kept a small number to give to students who moved in throughout the year – as this transient population also tends to have the greatest obstacles/needs. To be able to supply them so completely on their first day here was truly a blessing! Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our kids!
