“For God has not given me a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power and love and a sound mind.”

2 Tim 1:7 (JB Phillips)

One of the greatest enemies to our soul is fear. This has a way of paralyzing us and robbing us of our joy. The only way to deal with fear is to face it and overcome it. Dale Carnegie explained it this way: “Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.” You have a choice. You can allow this enemy to continue to control you or you can let God’s presence envelop you. You can choose to let the scriptures saturate your soul and continue to be assured that whatever the circumstances might be in your life, your heavenly Father will never leave you nor forsake you. There are three keys to overcoming fear:

  1. “God is with you: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.” Psalm 46:1-2a (NASB)
  2. Trust Him: “When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?” Psalm 56:3-4 (NASB)
  3. Be strong and courageous: “Yes, be bold and strong! Banish fear and doubt! For remember, the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (TLB)
