On Tuesday April 18th, a group of ladies who work together to pass business referrals back and forth volunteered at Jubilee REACH. They prepared a spaghetti dinner to approx 20 boys & girls who live in the low income area of Lake Hills Elementary School. Every Tuesday and Thursday night during the school year, 15-20 tutors also volunteer their time to come after school to tutor these kids and help them with their homework. Here are a few things the volunteers had to say:
The thing I like MOST about volunteering is that we get to do something TOGETHER with others that makes a difference. When we get to experience serving others alongside our friends and colleagues, it makes the experience very special for me. ~Deanne DeVries with Windermere
Serving changes people and opens your eyes to another way of life! ~ Catherine Colebank with First Citizens Bank
I like to volunteer because it’s not always about me. Volunteering gets me out of my tunnel vision, where I can get consumed in the day-to-day tasks. Volunteering helps me contribute to society in a positive way. ~Andrea Michaels with Edward Jones
Volunteering for me is an opportunity to bring SIGNIFIGANCE to my life, and hopefully/prayerfully in the life of others. We all want to find happiness in life, and I personally have never been happier in my life than when I turn my focus from myself turned inward, to my focus turned outward toward others. Volunteering makes me really appreciate what I already have, and makes me realize how little I really need to have all my needs met. ~Deanna Powell with Fidelity National Title & Escrow
