“Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness,

in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.”

James 1:21 NASB

Have you ever thought, “Wow, I wish my emotions were more on an even keel, not so many ups and downs?” Or are you thinking thoughts you know are not good for you or others but you do it anyway? I believe James really addresses the issues and challenges you face with your emotions and thought life when he says, “…in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.” Your soul consists of your mind, your will and your emotions. So as the Word of God becomes implanted in your life, your thinking and your emotions become transformed. According to Wikipedia, when you implant something you are embedding, inserting it into your life. How do you best get the Word inserted into your life? You memorize it and you meditate on it so that the Holy Spirit can bring it to your remembrance when you need it. So you then can be comforted, corrected and guided. It was David who said in Psalm 119:11, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
