I passed by the field of a sluggard,
by the vineyard of a man lacking sense,
and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns;
the ground was covered with nettles,
and its stone wall was broken down.
Then I saw and considered it;
I looked and received instruction.
A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest,
and poverty will come upon you like a robber,
and want like an armed man.
Proverbs 24:30-34 ESV

It has been said that laziness is a killer; fight it with all you have. Laziness breeds disappointment, disappointment breeds hopelessness, hopelessness breeds depression, and depression robs you of your motivation, which in turn breeds more laziness. It is a cycle of death and destruction. A close cousin to laziness is procrastination. We put off till tomorrow so many things. We say we’re going to get around to this and we’re filled with good intentions. But good intentions have never accomplished anything. I saw a sign the other day and that said, “I would be unstoppable if I could just get started.” It’s a new year. What are all those things that you have been putting off and you have been too lazy to do? Get ready, get set, go. Get intentional! Throw out the excuses about why you can’t do it and be determined that you will accomplish the goal.
