“Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves, do not merely look out for your own personal interest, but also for the interest of others. Have this attitude in yourselves, which was also in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 2:3-5 (NASB)

What is one of the biggest deterrents in your life that keeps you from maximizing your potential?  I believe it is the “I” in our lives where everything becomes centered on “me” rather than others. Proverbs 11:25 NASB says, “The generous man will be prosperous and he who waters will himself be watered.” Taft Benson said, “Pride is concerned with who is right; humility is concerned with what is right.” And it was Spencer Kimball who said, “Humility is greatness in plain clothing.”  Serving others is really the equalizer.  It was Martin Luther King who said, “Everybody can be great… because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve.  You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

DECLARATION:

I will make it my prayer to become more other-centered and less “I”-centered.
