Karilyn serves as the Executive Assistant to her husband, John Dammarell, Executive Director of Liberty Road Foundation. She is responsible for the day to day operations of Liberty Road Foundation and serves as the Event Chair of its annual Charity Golf Tournament & Auction as well as all of its other events – Business Vision Lunches in Bellevue and Tacoma, “Spring for the Kids” Fashion Show Luncheon and the Founders Vision Banquet.
Karilyn owned and operated Travel Bug, Inc. from 1975 to 1990. Her first account was the Boeing Employees World Wide Club where she provided travel packages at discounted group rates to Boeing Employees and their friends at reduced prices even if only one person traveled.
Karilyn has served on the boards of the Washington State Arthritis Foundation, the Boys and Girls Clubs of King County, and Seafair Inc. Karilyn became the first official female President of a Rotary Club in the world in 1988 when she was a member of the Rotary Club of Seattle – International District. Rotary International was founded in 1905 as a club for men only. Karilyn became the first female president in the 46-year history of Seattle Seafair in 1994. At that time, Seafair was a non-profit organization with a $2 million budget whose mission is to provide summer family entertainment to the residents of Greater Seattle and its outlying areas.
