Margaret Thatcher said, “Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It’s not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it’s a day you’ve had everything to do and you’ve done it.”  I had such a day yesterday at Liberty Road Foundation’s 5th Annual Business Vision Lunch where 230 business leaders came to hear former Seahawks QB Jon Kitna speak on “R.E.A.L. Leadership In a Counterfeit World”.

Jon said there are 4 pillars of R.E.A.L leadership:
Rejecting Passivity – confronting issues we know are wrong.
Empathizing With Others – learn what makes others tick and don’t expect them to be just like you.
Accepting Responsibility – especially when we know we did something wrong.
Leading Courageously – jump in front when you don’t even know where you’re going; motivate to reach a common cause.

After Jon spoke, LRF Executive Director John Dammarell launched our 2014 Backpack Drive – sponsor a kid to receive a backpack filled with all of their school supplies for $25 a kid!  Attendees sponsored a total of 390 kids at the event!  The goal is to sponsor 1500 kids.  Yes, I was “supremely satisfied” at the end of the day!
