Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Whoheals all your diseases;
Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle. (NASB)
Psalms 103:1-5
As we reflect over this past year, we have so much to be thankful for. It has no doubt been a year filled with struggles and victories and yet at the very core of it we can say with David, as it is so well put in the Message Bible in Psalm 103:1-2, “O my soul, bless God. From head to toe,
I’ll bless his holy name! O my soul, bless God, don’t forget a single blessing!”
Here is a suggestion: Take a few minutes to think through all the different blessings you have received over this past year and then write them down and be thankful to God for what He has done in your life. Then think about those people who have really had an influence in your life this past year and have sown into you their time and wisdom and perhaps even a financial blessing and make a special effort to thank them.
