THE ENEMY OF SUCCESS

I walked by the field of a lazy person,

the vineyard of one with no common sense.

I saw that it was overgrown with nettles.

It was covered with weeds,

and its walls were broken down.

Then, as I looked and thought about it,

I learned this lesson:

A little extra sleep, a little more slumber,

a little folding of the hands to rest—

then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit;

scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

Proverbs 24:30-34 NLB

A placard on a procrastinator’s desk reads, “Never put off till tomorrow what you can put off till the day after tomorrow.”  It has been said, “Procrastination is the grave in which opportunity is buried.”  And it was Napoleon Hill who said, “Procrastination is the bad habit of putting off until the day after tomorrow what should have been done the day before yesterday.”

A good question to ask yourself is, “What have I left undone in my life?”  Maybe it was that book you were going to read, or that exercise program you were going to start or that project around the house you never finished.  Here’s an idea — grab a sheet of paper and write down a few of those neglected things you have been putting off, arrange them by priority, put a date next to each item, and then tackle them one at a time. Proverbs 21:5a NKJV says, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty.”
