“But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Life is much like a journey and on this journey, you have dreams, desires, and goals. With this comes various obstacles and setbacks. Be encouraged and reminded daily that God is with you, whatever the dreams or challenges you may have. When Paul talks about pressing on toward the goal, I think of the word determination. The online dictionary defines determination as, “a firmness of purpose; resolve; fixed intention or resolution.” On this journey you will need determination because it’s what keeps you persevering through all the challenges you face. It has been said that the one quality that makes a difference in the success or failure of a task is determination. It was Colin Powell who said, “A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.” And it was Tommy Lasorda who said, “The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a man’s determination.”
ACTION STEP:
On my daily journey I will be intentional about keeping my focus on my Father, who is the source of all that I need to be determined to press on no matter what happens.
