What is one of the biggest deterrents in our lives that keeps us from maximizing our potential? I believe it is the “I” where everything in our lives revolves around us being centered on “me” rather than others. Pay attention to your conversation sometime. Are you more apt to talk about yourself rather than showing an interest in others? Proverbs 11:25 (NASB) says, “The generous man will be prosperous and he who waters others will himself be watered.” It was Taft Benson who said, “Pride is concerned with who is right; humility is concerned with what is right.” And it was Spencer Kimball who said, “Humility is greatness in plain clothing.”I like what John Maxwell says about humility: “Allow, enable and empower others to shine. Humble leaders not only enjoy watching others succeed; they also do what they can to put the spotlight on others’ victories.”
DECLARATION: I will make it my prayer to become more other-centered and less “I”-centered.
