John Dammarell, Executive Director of LRF, is challenging LRF supporters by asking them to take a bag filled with $25 in cash, representing the cost to provide one child with a backpack filled with school supplies, and going out and increasing their investment!  Matthew 25:15-18 NASB says, “To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he  went on his journey.  Immediately the one who had received the five  talents went and traded with them, and gained five more talents. In the same manner the one who had received the two talents gained two more. But he who received the one talent went away, and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.” John is hoping that those who took a bag won’t dig a hole in the ground and hide the money but will increase their investment many times over to promote the backpack drive and provide 5,000 kids with backpacks filled with school supplies.  To date, 43 people have taken a bag of $25.

One family came up with a very creative idea to raise money for the drive.  Brian and Jen Shuck own an online sign business, Rustic Pine Designs, and with their 3 young children, they decided to use their business to promote the backpack drive by making signs using the $25 they were initially given.  They used $22 to buy 12 feet of 1×12 boards then waited for people to buy 12″ signs from their web site.  Within one day all the LRF wood was gone.   The money grew from $22 to $293!  They repeated the process and the $293 grew to $682.On June 3rd, they plan on using $100 to buy more wood, hoping they will break $1,100!!!

What is your great idea?  You can donate to our “Invest In a Kid” Backpack Drive by completing this form and returning it to LRF.  Ask Karilyn Dammarell to personalize a flyer for your company by calling her at 206 790-1290 or emailing karilyn@libertyroadfoundation.org.
