The Empowerment Center in Tacoma was the beneficiary of Liberty Road Foundation’s Annual Holiday Food Drive – $13,710 and over 400 pounds of food donated by you! Thank you so much for your generosity! ECT distributed complete meals to 2,514 people in need. They had 346 volunteers serving for a total of 1,653 hours!

The primary focus of The Empowerment Center since 2003 has been to wage war against hunger. Their goal is to divert good wholesome food away from the sanitary landfill to the table of more than 700 families per week through their food distribution network, which also includes distribution to other nonprofit organizations throughout the region. This is accomplished with a 100% volunteer workforce, many of whom are unemployed, underemployed, and/or branded unemployable. Their Employment Development Component has been instrumental at putting many of these volunteers to work and diverting them from homelessness, restoring them to self-sufficiency.
