Getting to know Dave Petso

Dave Petso is a Certified Financial Planner® and Managing Director at Modern Wealth Management in Boise, Idaho. With over four decades of experience in financial services, Dave is widely recognized for his thoughtful, personalized approach to retirement planning, investment management, and estate strategies. He founded Petso Financial Consultants in 2001, building a firm that became known for integrity, clarity, and a deep commitment to client success. In 2024, the firm joined forces with Modern Wealth Management, where Dave continues to serve clients as a leading executive advisor.

A gifted communicator and educator, Dave is best known to many Idahoans as the longtime host of “Money Matters”—a live weekly radio show on KIDO Talk Radio that empowers listeners with real-world financial insights, smart planning tools, and answers to the most pressing questions about money. He also contributes financial commentary on KTVB’s Monday morning news and is a respected voice in media conversations around markets, inflation, and retirement trends.

Dave has served as president of the Idaho chapter of the International Association of Financial Planners and is a frequent speaker at business and community events. He is especially passionate about helping retirees, nonprofit foundations, and multigenerational families develop income strategies that last a lifetime.

When he’s not advising clients or speaking to audiences, Dave enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time with his wife, daughters, and granddaughters. Whether through radio, personal advising, or public speaking, Dave Petso’s mission remains the same: to help people make confident, informed financial decisions that build long-term peace of mind.
