“Having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.”
Colossians 2:7 NASB

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV

It is obvious that the specific will of God for our life is gratitude. I have found that being grateful, giving thanks, and expressing gratitude helps to keep me in right focus. It switches my thinking more on God and others and less on myself. It was Ralph Waldo Emerson who said,“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and give thanks continuously.” I like what Charles Swindoll says about gratitude, “Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
