“Having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith,  just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.”

Colossians 2:7 NASV

“My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live Him. You’re deeply rooted in Him. You’re well constructed upon Him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught. School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.”

Colossians 2:7 The Message

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

I Thessalonians 5:18 ESV

I have found that being grateful, giving thanks and expressing gratitude helps to keep me in right focus. It switches my thinking more on God and others and less on myself. It was Ralph Waldo Emerson who said, “Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” And it was Dick Cheney who said, “I wake up every morning literally with a smile on my face, grateful for another day I never thought I’d see.”
