“My soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my refuge; I will not be shaken. On God my salvation and my glory rest; the rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us”
Psalm 62:5–8 (NASB)

We live in a world that’s constantly on the move—driven by deadlines, distracted by devices, and pressured by the unknown. No wonder anxiety is running rampant. But in Psalm 62, David gives us a powerful strategy: Wait in silence for God only… trust in Him at all times… pour out your heart before Him. In other words—slow down, get still, and stay anchored. Dallas Willard said, “Hurry is the great enemy of spiritual life in our day. You must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life.” Why? Because anxiety thrives in the noise—but faith grows in the quiet.

Max Lucado writes, “Anxiety is a meteor shower of what-ifs.” And the truth is, our peace doesn’t come from knowing what’s ahead—it comes from knowing Who is ahead of us. God is not just a distant refuge; He is a present rock, unmoved and unshaken. David isn’t offering some shallow positivity here—he’s calling us to a deep, gritty trust in the middle of pressure. He reminds us that our soul can wait in silence, that our hearts can pour out in prayer, and that our minds can rest in God even when everything else is shaking.

Action Step:
This week, create space to be still. Just 5-10 minutes a day—no phone, no noise, just you and the Father. Pour out your heart honestly. Then sit in silence and let Him fill your soul with peace. Don’t fight anxiety alone—hide in the refuge of your Rock.
