“For you have made the Lord, my refuge, the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will happen to you, nor will any plague come near your tent. For He will give His angels orders concerning you, to protect you in all your ways.”
Psalm 91:9-11 (NASB)
Right now, people everywhere are searching for something to hold onto. We scroll headlines, listen to updates, and try to stay strong. But what our hearts are truly longing for is hope—real, lasting, unshakable hope. Psalm 91 gives it to us. “Because you have made the Lord your refuge…the Most High your dwelling place…No evil will happen to you, nor will any plague come near your tent.” That’s not just poetic language. That’s heaven’s promise of protection: a hope we can stand on when everything else feels uncertain.
It reminds us: When we dwell in God’s presence, not just visit Him, we come under His covering. And under His covering, hope rises. Fear fades. Peace returns. And then comes the promise that brings tears to the eyes of the weary: “For He will give His angels orders concerning you, to protect you in all your ways.” Yes—God has angels assigned to your life. You are not walking through this world uncovered. You’re not vulnerable to whatever life throws your way. You’re surrounded. Protected. Loved. And most of all—you are never without hope.
Pastor Chuck Smith said: “When you’re resting in the Lord, trusting in Him, and your life is committed to Him, there’s a peace, there’s a comfort, there’s a security.” That’s what hope looks like in the real world. Max Lucado added this: “God never said that the journey would be easy, but He did say that the arrival would be worthwhile.”
So, if you’re feeling anxious, tired, or overwhelmed…let this truth sink in: Hope is not just a feeling—it’s a covering. It’s a Person. And His name is Jesus. He is your refuge. He is your protector. And He is the One who surrounds you with love and leads you forward with hope that will not disappoint.
