“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.”
Proverbs 21:1 (NKJV)
Are you in charge or in control? As a business leader you should make your plans for your business, but don’t be fooled into thinking that you are in control of the future of your business. Just like the king’s heart, your business is in the hand of the Lord and just like the rivers of water, He turns it wherever He wishes. In his book The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Patrick Lencioni said, “Successful leaders remember this and therefore know the difference between being in charge and being in control.” Proverbs 20:24a (NKJV) says, “A man’s steps are of the Lord,” and Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV) says, “A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.”
Your prayer might be:
“Search me, Lord, and show me if I am in control of my business and help me learn the difference between being in charge or in control, and that I would relinquish all control to you.”
