“The reward of humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, honor and life.”
Proverbs 22:4 (NASB1995)
To position yourself effectively for a promotion, it’s essential to adopt strategic principles that highlight your value and readiness for the next level. Here are five key principles to consider:
- The Fear of the Lord: “In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life.” Proverbs 14:26 (NASB1995)
- Humility: John Maxwell says, “Whatever success you achieve will be shallow and joyless. Why? Because humility allows you to put your accomplishments into perspective—it reshapes your goals, your passion and every other factor in your pursuit of success.” And 1 Peter 5:6 (NASB1995) says, “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time.”
- Wisdom: Wisdom is an important trait in business because it can help leaders make better decisions, anticipate challenges, and build successful relationships. Proverbs 4:8 (NASB1995) says, “Prize her, and she will exalt you; She will honor you if you embrace her.”
- Diligence: Diligence ensures that you remain committed to the task at hand, and it helps you push past the inevitable roadblocks. Proverbs 22:29 (KJV) says, “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; He shall not stand before mean men.”
- Wait on the Lord: This is no doubt one of the toughest things to do. We’re not normally a people who like to wait. We want convenience, we want answers to our prayers, and we want it now. Waiting strengthens us. The more we wait, the more time we’re given to trust God. Psalm 37:34a (NASB1995) says, “Wait for the Lord and keep His way, And He will exalt you to inherit the land.”
Be encouraged. God is in the promotion business. You do not have to promote yourself. God will promote you. He will exalt you when it is the proper time.
