“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
Endurance is so important both in business and in your personal life. Miriam Webster defines endurance as,“The ability to sustain a prolonged stressful effort or activity.” Dictionary.com defines endurance as, “The ability or strength to continue or last, especially despite fatigue, stress, or other adverse conditions.”
Galatians 6:9 (ESV) says, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up,” and Colossians 1:11 (ESV) says, “Being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy.” Endurance is a great word because it’s a word that separates a lot of people from those who really do succeed from those who want to succeed; those who get to the top of the mountain from the ones who just sit back and view the mountain. It means when other people quit, you don’t quit because your passion and desire to get to the end is greater than other people’s desire. It isn’t always about talent, but it’s also about attitude and desire. What do you need to take action on in your personal life or business today? Is there something that you’re about to give up on? If there is, let me make some suggestions.
- Have faith in God. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NASB)
- Have a goal in mind: “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Proverbs 29:18a (KJV)
- Celebrate the little victories on the way.
- Be determined that you will not give up because you know that hope does not disappoint you.
Finally, John Maxwell said, “A difficult time can be more readily endured if we retain the conviction that our existence holds a purpose, a cause to pursue, a person to love, a goal to achieve.”
