“Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.”
Galatians 6:9 (NASB)

The definition of “perseverance” in the Webster dictionary is, “Perseverance is to persist in a state, enterprise or undertaking in spite of counter influences, opposition or discouragement.” Dale Carnegie says, “Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who kept on trying when there seemed to be no help at all,” and Winston Churchill said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.” Perseverance, or persistence, is a mindset and skill that can be crucial for business success. It’s the ability to stay committed to goals despite challenges and setbacks, and to bounce back from failures.

Here are a few principles that will help you in developing perseverance.

  1. Picture yourself achieving your goals. “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Proverbs 24:16 (NASB).
  2. Be convinced it’s God’s will.
  3. Ask for His wisdom. “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 (NASB)
  4. Refuse a spirit of fear. “God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.” II Timothy 1:7 (NLT)
  5. Be passionate toward your vision.

I want to leave you with this:
“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
