“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.”
1 Corinthians 9:24 (NASB1995)
Seasoned marathon runners have learned to focus on endurance not just speed. They are in the race for the long haul. When things get tough and circumstances seem impossible and obstacles come too often, you need staying power.
What is the secret to your staying power? Hebrews 12:1–2 (NASB 1995) says, “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” This implies that you should never lose sight of your goal and that you will only endure the pain when you have something to look forward to. Success comes only when you are committed and have the passion to cross the finish line.
Declaration:
I declare, I will get my eyes on the goal, run to win, keeping my focus on Jesus and I will cross the finish line.
