“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:45 (NASB)
Christ’s entire mission and purpose was to be a giver. Time and time again we are reminded in scripture of the importance of being a giver. Proverbs 11:25 (NASB) reads, “The generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.” Proverbs 21:26 (NASB) reads, “The righteous gives and does not hold back.” And Proverbs 22:9 (NASB) says, “He who is generous, will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.” It was Winston Churchill who said, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” And it was St. Francis of Assisi who said, “You cannot all abandon your possessions, but at least you can change your attitude about them. All getting separates you from others; all giving unites to others.” And finally, H. Jackson Brown, Jr. said, “Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.”
Seed for Thought:
John Maxwell said, “Significance comes when you add value to others.”
