We need each other, don’t we? The enemy is forever trying to isolate you and play with your emotions. He is forever trying to convince you that you’re losing. You’re not good enough. You can’t do it. You will never get well, and you might as well quit trying. Listen, we need each other! The Bible tells us in Hebrews 3:13 (NASB), “Encourage one another every day, as long as it is still called ‘today,’ so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.”
The word encourage according to Merriam Webster means: to inspire with courage, spirit, or hope: HEARTEN. It further says, 1: make more determined, hopeful, or confident: hearten. Cheering fans encouraged the team. 2: to give help or support to.
I believe God is saying that when you have people around you who take a defensive stand with you and encourage you, you will rise up and defeat the enemy together. We need each other. How different would this world be if we encouraged one another? Imagine with me. What if we asked God to give us one person, one opportunity a day to encourage someone, to stand with our arms linked together in defense against the enemy?
I love what Robert Schuller says about encouraging one another: “The secret of success is to find a need and fill it, to find a hurt and heal it, to find somebody with a problem and offer to help solve it.”
ACTION STEP:
Ask God to give you one person today that you can encourage.
