“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”
Philippians 4:8 NASB
Proverbs 23:7 NKJV reads, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” What are those things you dwell on in the course of a day’s time? What you allow your mind to focus on will define your character. It has been said, watch your thoughts, they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.
Here are some positive tips that will help you with your thoughts:
- Focus on positive, uplifting, and edifying things.
- Stop letting negative attitudes influence you. It takes 10 positive thoughts to counteract one negative thought.
- Take some time to write out faith declarations and speak them daily. Such as, “I am more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me.“ Or “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” or “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind.”
- Pray specifically that your thoughts and attitudes be in line with that which is going to edify your thinking.
