“Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”
Joshua 3:5 NKJV
We want to take our cities for the Kingdom, but first we will need to take our own souls. In II Chronicles 29, King Hezekiah had just gathered together the priests and the Levites, saying to them in verse 5, “Hear me, Levites. Now sanctify yourselves, sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry out the rubbish from the Holy Place.” What is unclean in the church today starts with the individual. The unforgiveness, the finger pointing, the prideful attitude, the competitive and jealous spirit, and the power plays all need to be dealt with. Our prayers might go something like this: “Our Father, search me and try me and expose those things that have kept me in bondage to myself. Forgive me for the way I have treated those you have forgiven. Cleanse my soulof my selfish attitude and pointed finger that has been so quick to complain and criticize others. Cleanse my soul of my prejudices, and Father, please put a guard over my thoughts, my mind, and my lips. I want you on the throne of my life. Your Kingdom come and your will be done in Jesus Name, Amen.”
