“My soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be shaken. On God my salvation and my glory rest; the rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”
Psalm 62:5-8 NASB
The Message Bible reads in verses 5-6, “God, the one and only — I’ll wait as long as he says. Everything I hope for comes from him, so why not? He’s solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, an impregnable castle: I’m set for life.” Here David is commanding his soul (his mind, will and emotions) to wait on God. We are a convenient, fast food type of people. Traffic pushes our buttons and long lines drive us crazy and everything needs to have been done yesterday. STOP! SLOW DOWN. The Lord is your shepherd, you shall not want or as it states in the original translation, “shall not be in any want.” He makes us to lie down in green pastures and leads us beside still waters and He restores our soul (our mind, will and emotions). The word “restore” means to heal. He heals your mind, will, and emotions in the green pastures and beside the still waters. Everything you can hope for comes from Him.
