“O LORD, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; nor do I involve myself in great matters, or in things too difficult for me.  Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; like a weaned child rests against his mother, my soul is like a weaned child within me.”  (NASB)  Psalm 131:1-2

Do you ever feel like you just can’t feel peace in your mind?  Instead you feel unrest and a lack of contentment.  In Psalm 131:1-2, David is expressing his childlike trust in the Lord.  It is childlike faith that brings real contentment, similar to a small child who jumps from the edge of a pool or the edge of a car seat into his daddy’s, arms trusting completely that his daddy will catch him.  It is with this childlike faith that you will find contentment and be set free from self-seeking and excessive world ambition.

Lord, help me to be more childlike in my faith, that I may have that same trust that in your arms there is security and safety, in your arms there is rest, peace and contentment.
