Diligence vs. Slothfulness

Diligence means investing my time and energy to complete each task assigned to me. “Whatever you do, do your work [a] heartily, as for the Lord [b] rather than for men.” Colossians 3:23 NASB

Five “I Wills” To Diligence

1.  I will finish all projects.  “For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?” Luke 14:28 NASB

2. I will do every job right. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.”  2 Tim 4:7 NASB

3. I will follow instructions.  “Do nothing from [b] selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.”  Phil. 2:3-4 NASB

4. I will concentrate on my work and not allow my eyes to wander.  “Do not turn to the right nor to the left, turn your foot from evil.”  Prov. 4:27 NASB

5. I will not be lazy.  “Through indolence the rafters sag, and through slackness the house leaks.”  Ecclesiastes 10:18 NASB
