“Don’t waste your time on useless work, mere busywork, the barren pursuits of darkness.

Expose these things for the sham they are.  It’s a scandal when people waste their lives

on things they must do in the darkness where no one will see.  Rip the cover off

those frauds and see how attractive they look in the light of Christ.  Wake up from your sleep,

Climb out of your coffins; Christ will show you the light!  So watch your step.  Use your head.

Make the most of every chance you get.  These are desperate times!  Don’t live carelessly, unthinkingly.  Make sure you understand what the Master wants.”  (MSG)

Ephesians 5:11-17

The clock is ticking.  Time is short.  Too often we get all caught up in the urgency of the moment.  Instead of being in charge of our schedules, we allow our schedules to rule us.  There are always those things that come up to try and steal your time.  It is like the tyranny of the urgent.

Your prayer might go like this:  “Father, give me the wisdom to discern the difference between what is urgent and what is important.  Help me to be a good steward of the time You give me.  I cast all my cares and concerns on You.  Help me that I will be well balanced, vigilant and cautious at all times.  And, Father, help me to make the most of every opportunity You give me.  Help me not to waste time but to manage the time You give me with more efficiency because

I realize every moment is important.”
