Transformation of the Soul

“Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.” James 1:21 NASB Have you ever thought, “Wow, I wish my emotions were more on an even keel, not so many ups and downs?” Or are you thinking thoughts you know are not good for you or others but you do it anyway? I believe James really addresses the issues and challenges you face with your emotions and thought life when he says, “…in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.” Your soul consists of your mind, your will and your emotions. So as the Word of God becomes implanted in your life, your thinking and your emotions become transformed. According to Wikipedia, when you implant something you are embedding, inserting it into your life. How do you best get the Word inserted into your life? You memorize it and you meditate on it so that the Holy Spirit can bring it to your remembrance when you need it. So you then can be comforted, corrected and guided. It was David who said in Psalm 119:11, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” TAKE ACTION: Make an intentional commitment to start memorizing God’s word today. Here’s a suggestion. Start with James 1:21 or Psalm 119:11. Other suggestions include Romans 12:1-2 and Psalm...

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9 (ESV) “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12 (ESV) Edison failed 1,000 times before he invented the light bulb.  Napoleon Hill said, “Do not be discouraged if you fail a few times.”  And it has been said, “Many of the great achievements of the world were accomplished by tired and discouraged men who kept on working.” For nearly 30 years Abraham Lincoln endured personal pain, financial pain, and political pain but he didn’t give up.  On November 6,1860 he was elected President of the United States and by many he is considered to be the greatest president in U.S. history.  I’m glad he didn’t give up and that he had the faith and tenacity to keep going.   DECLARATION:   Lord, thank you for those dreams and goals you have put within my heart.  Help me to have the faith and courage to keep going, to never...

Wise Planning Leads To Success

Posted on Feb 15, 2016 in WEEKLY WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT | 0 comments

“Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.”   Proverbs 21:5 (NLT) Think of this scripture in relationship to your work.  If you are being diligent and planning wisely, you are placing great worth on situations and thinking them through. You know the whys and what fors and you are setting goals to achieve the best results possible in these situations.  Whereas, if you’re hasty, you may not have a clear picture of where you’re headed and how to get there.  Keep in mind that often with hastiness comes carelessness.  Check it out. Where are you with this?  Take some time to plan where you’re headed and then set some goals that are measurable and accomplishable. DECLARATION:   I declare I will slow down and be more diligent in my plans and the execution of...

No More Excuses

I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of a man lacking sense, and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns; the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down. Then I saw and considered it; I looked and received instruction. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man. Proverbs 24:30-34 ESV It has been said that laziness is a killer; fight it with all you have. Laziness breeds disappointment, disappointment breeds hopelessness, hopelessness breeds depression, and depression robs you of your motivation, which in turn breeds more laziness. It is a cycle of death and destruction. A close cousin to laziness is procrastination. We put off till tomorrow so many things. We say we’re going to get around to this and we’re filled with good intentions. But good intentions have never accomplished anything. I saw a sign the other day and that said, “I would be unstoppable if I could just get started.” It’s a new year. What are all those things that you have been putting off and you have been too lazy to do? Get ready, get set, go. Get intentional! Throw out the excuses about why you can’t do it and be determined that you will accomplish the...
