Winning Is In the Preparation

“Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.” Proverbs 6:6-8 ESV The success of whatever you’re doing and whatever goals and dreams you might have is dependent on how well you prepare. Ecclesiastes 5:3 NASB says “For the dream comes through much effort.” Coach Vince Lombardi put it well when he said, “The will to win is not nearly so important as the will to prepare to win.” Great performers have that rare will to prepare.  It was John Maxwell who said, “We cannot become what we need by remaining what we are.” In other words practice, practice, practice, line upon line, detail upon detail....

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29 NASB Perhaps you’ve been going through some stuff lately that seems nearly impossible to bear and yet you’re trying to carry it all yourself. Do you know that God never intended for you to go it alone? He says, “Come to Me and bring your disappointments, your failures, your fears, your broken dreams, your circumstances. Lay it all at My feet. Let Me carry you and bring you through whatever is going on in your life. Let me heal you and bring to you perfect peace and contentment.”   DECLARATION: I will bring all my concerns to You right now and I thank You for Your...

A Battle For Your Mind

Posted on Oct 12, 2015 in WEEKLY WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT | 0 comments

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.” Ephesians 6:10-13 NASB You can be easily distracted and sucked into thinking like the world thinks as we are continually being bombarded with thoughts of greed, anger, lust and cynicism. This generally does not happen all at once but it can sneak up on you. You simply cannot afford to let your guard down.  You need at all times to be alert and have the full armor of God on protecting your mind, knowing that He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. And if God be for you, who can be against you? Here is an exercise that will help: read Colossians 3 and meditate on...

Know Where You Are Going

Posted on Oct 5, 2015 in WEEKLY WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT | 0 comments

“Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel, so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to everyone else, and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear. Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from good will; the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice, for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.” Philippians 1:12-20 NASB Here is an example of having a strong understanding of where you’re headed. In other words, knowing your purpose. Paul stayed on mission. It was George Washington Carver who said, “No individual has any right to come into the world and go out without leaving behind him distinct and legitimate reasons for having passed through it.” John Maxwell says this about purpose: “It will motivate you. It will keep your priorities straight. It will help to develop your potential and it will help you evaluate your...
