Make the Most of Your Time

“Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” Ephesians 5:15-17 NASB Part of managing your time well is to train yourself to be punctual, even if it means being 5 to 10 minutes early to an appointment. This same verse in the Message Bible reads, “So watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times! Don’t live carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants.” We all have the same amount of time – 24 hours in the day – but what distinguishes successful people from unsuccessful people is how they use their time. Successful people understand that the most precious commodity on earth is time. It was Essayist Henry David Thoreau who said, “It is not enough to be industrious. So are the ants. The question is, what are you industrious about?” Great time management consists of knowing your priorities and following them so it really becomes more of about managing...

Attitude Adjustment

“Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves, do not merely look out for your own personal interest, but also for the interest of others. Have this attitude in yourselves, which was also in Christ Jesus.”   Philippians 2:3-5 (NASB) What is one of the biggest deterrents in your life that keeps you from maximizing your potential?  I believe it is the “I” in our lives where everything becomes centered on “me” rather than others. Proverbs 11:25 NASB says, “The generous man will be prosperous and he who waters will himself be watered.” Taft Benson said, “Pride is concerned with who is right; humility is concerned with what is right.” And it was Spencer Kimball who said, “Humility is greatness in plain clothing.”  Serving others is really the equalizer.  It was Martin Luther King who said, “Everybody can be great… because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve.  You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”   DECLARATION: I will make it my prayer to become more other-centered and less...

NORTH CREEK ROOFING SPENDS 3 DAYS AT 2015 MILL CREEK FESTIVAL PROMOTING LRF’s “THE HUNTER CHALLENGE” BACKPACK DRIVE

Posted on Jul 17, 2015 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Dan & Sue McNeely, owners of North Creek Roofing in Bothell, were responsible for 10-year old Hunter finding a backpack donation form at his YMCA last year. With money Hunter had saved, he donated 10 backpacks and school supplies ($250) and challenged businesses to do the same this year, thus “The Hunter Challenge” Backpack Drive. Hunter even took our flyers to his neighbors this year and with his 10 was able to get commitments totalling 30 backpacks/supplies! This year North Creek Roofing had a very visible presence at the 2015 Mill Creek Festival this past weekend as a festival sponsor and promoted our backpack drive. They made a sign with photos of Hunter on it, had a “thermometer” showing the status of our goal for 2000 kids being sponsored, and put our Donation Forms in bags given to people visiting their booth. Thank you, Dan & Sue, for your support! Need a new roof? Other businesses like Passport Unlimited and Builders Capital are matching donations made by their employees. What will you do? To make a donation, go to http://www.libertyroadfoundation.org/the-hunter-challenge-…/ Help us to reach our goal to give 2000 needy kids a backpack filled with their back-to-school supplies – we’re currently at 1450! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! THANK...

Run After Excellence

“Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before Kings, he will not stand before unknown men.” Proverbs 22:29 (NASB) It was Colin Powell who said, “If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters.  Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude.” This is really about perspective. So often we have our focus totally on the big picture and we forget all the little things, the details it takes to achieve the big picture. Focus your attention on excelling in the details and you will succeed in the big things.  Joyce Meyers says, “Getting organized in the normal routines of life and finishing little projects you’ve started is an important first step toward realizing larger goals. If you can’t get a handle on the small things, how will you ever get it together to focus on the big things?” It’s further been said, “Success in life is founded upon attention to the small things rather than to the large things; to the every day things nearest to us rather than to the things that are remote and uncommon.” DECLARATION: Starting today I will take one day at a time and focus my attention on the little...

R&R for the Soul

Posted on Jul 6, 2015 in WEEKLY WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT | 0 comments

“Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken.” Psalm 62:5-6 (HCSB) It’s summer and with that comes the thoughts of warmer weather, barbecues, sports with kids or grandkids and a much-needed vacation – what we sometimes refer to as rest and relaxation. Yet have you noticed you can go on vacation and get back home and you still feel like you need another vacation?  You can be on an extended vacation and still be stressed out. Because you have not had that R&R the way the Easy-To-Read Version reads: Psalm 62:5-8 (ERV) “I must calm down and turn to God; He is my only hope. He is my Rock, the only one who can save me. He is my high place of safety, where no army can defeat me. My victory and honor come from God. He is the mighty Rock, where I am safe. People, always put your trust in God! Tell him all your problems. God is our place of...
