Look What God Has Done

“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 NASB It’s a good work. Look at God. Look at what He has been doing in your life. You have a testimony to share about the goodness of God. It was as David cried out and the Lord heard him and drew him up out of that miry bog and put a new song in His heart – a song of praise that all may come and hear and give praise to God. Look at God. He lifted you and turned your mess into a message. Look at God. He is your Savior, He is your Forgiver, He is your Healer. He is your Protector, He is your Provider. He is your Director. Look what God has been doing in your life. There is an old hymn that that says, “Count your blessings. Name them one by one. Count your blessings. See what God has...

When the Storm Doesn’t Seem To Leave

We have all been through some struggles and storms but this one just seems to be one of those storms that seems like it will never end. In Luke 22:32a (NASB) Jesus says, “But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail.” I am praying that your faith in this prolonged storm will not cave in. You will not give up. You will have staying power, fortitude and courageous faith. This word “fortitude” means, “strength of mind that enables one to endure adversity with courage” and the word “courage” is defined in Wikipedia as follows: “Courage, also known as bravery, will, intrepidity, and fortitude, is the ability to confront fear, pain, risk/danger, uncertainty, or intimidation.” Psalm 138:7-8 (NASB) says, “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will save me. The LORD will accomplish what concerns me; Your loving kindness, O LORD, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” The Message Bible reads. ”When I walk into the thick of trouble, keep me alive in the angry turmoil. With one hand strike my foes, with your other hand save me.  Finish what you started in me, GOD. Your love is eternal—don’t quit on me now.” Be assured that the Lord will not quit on you. Romans 8:28 (NASB) says, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”...

A Drink of Water

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom.”   Mark 10:45 NASB There are two keywords in this scripture verse – serve and give.  We have heard many of our volunteers say, “When I got involved in volunteering, I was thinking that I was going to help change a lot of people but instead the one that got changed the most was me.”  Winston Churchill said, “You make a living by what you get, you make a life by what you give.”  And G. Donald Gale said, “A pessimist, they say, sees a glass of water half empty; an optimist sees the same glass as half full.  But a giving person sees a glass of water and starts looking for someone who might be thirsty.”  Are you a pessimist, an optimist or a giving...
