LRF Turkey Dinner Drive Results

Posted on Nov 27, 2014 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the 55 LRF supporters who donated 275 turkey dinners valued at $6,880.  We were able to write checks to Lincoln High School in Tacoma, the Empowerment Center in Tacoma and to Olive Crest for Stewart Middle School families in Tacoma.     It has been said, “Show me your hands.  Do they have scars from giving?  Show me your feet.  Are they wounded in service?  Show me your heart.  Have you left a place for divine love?”  You showed that divine love when you gave from your heart and many families who would not have enjoyed a turkey dinner will do so this season!  There is a well known Spanish idiom, “Hacemos el camino  caminando,” which means,  “We make the road  by walking it .”  Thank you for walking with us.   May God bless you for your generosity.  Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!   Sincerely,   John L. Dammarell LRF Executive Director...

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.  Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” Phil. 4:6-9 NASV  As your thoughts turn toward the holidays the stress trap can easily consume you. How is your attitude with all that is going on in your life? Are you finding yourself more stressed and on edge at times? Are you letting the circumstances around you affect your attitude? Here Paul talks about guarding your attitude.  He tells you that you are to replace anxiousness and worry with prayer and thankfulness and to think on those things that are positive and uplifting in your life.  Take a few moments to get refocused. Just think about all the blessings you have in your life. bIt will change your attitude.  DECLARATION:    Dear God, I am so grateful for all the ways you have blessed me. I bring to you all those things that have been troubling me.  I realize I have been trying to carry the entire load myself.  I give it to YOU for you have told me if I am burdened that you will give me rest.  And help me to focus on those things that are positive and uplifting in my life, those blessings that I have so often taken for granted. In Jesus name, AMEN  Have a blessed Thanksgiving for we all have so much to be thankful for, remembering                    that God gave the best gift of all when he gave his son, Jesus...

The Father’s Eyes

Posted on Nov 17, 2014 in WEEKLY WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT | 0 comments

O great and mighty God. The LORD of hosts is His name; great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, giving to everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds.”   Jeremiah 32:18b-19 NASB The Father’s eyes are open to you, pouring out His counsel and giving to you according to what you have sown into others in your business.  What are those seeds that you can sow into your business that will yield much fruit? Here are just a few suggestions: 1) Appreciation of your employees and words of encouragement and thanks, a positive uplifting work atmosphere, caring for their personal needs, bonuses when they least expect it. 2) Appreciation of clients, expressions of thanks for their business, and follow-up. 3) Serving the disadvantaged outside the corporate walls, demonstrating a heart of compassion.   Isaiah 58:10-11 clearly states that when you’re giving yourself and your business to the hungry and satisfying the desires of the afflicted, the Lord will guide you, will satisfy your desires, give strength to you and you will be like a well watered garden and as the 12th verse clearly states, your business will be known as a rebuilder of the waste places and a restorer of the streets in which you...

Don’t Give Up

“Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.” Psalm 27:14 NASB It has often been said that the one quality that makes a difference in the success or failure of a task is determination. The online dictionary has defined determination as “a firmness of purpose; resolve. A fixed intention or resolution.”  In other words, we approach a task with determination.  Or in the case of young people who recently returned to school, they do it with a determination to finish. “A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.” – Colin Powell. Determination keeps you persevering through all the roadblocks and ups and downs you...
